As dog owners, we often say, “this is the best dog ever!”
Our Gizmo qualifies as one of them.
When we first brought him home, he was about 8 weeks old and a fur ball. I was thinking about what name to give him, and I looked at his furry face, his ears were sticking up, and I saw that smile (brachycephalic). He looked like a Gremlin right after being exposed to bright light, water, or being fed after midnight... LOL That's how he got his name, Gizmo.
After 10 years as a city slicker in Henderson, NV, we moved to the "Ranch" in the beautiful mountains of Cedar City, UT.
He loved all the room to run around, and when we started raising chickens, goats, and miniature horses, he really felt like they were his friends.
Gizmo just turned 17 this last February 2019. Even though he is slowing down and not able to see well, hear well, or walk as fast due to arthritis, he still has that fire to go outside, smell the new smells after a rain or snow storm, and mark all the new/same pee spots. And of course, he always enjoys a rare delicacy called: the last stage of hay, AKA horse shit. Yummy!!!
We are extremely thankful to have him as our "Ranch Dog".
